L3Harris has been recognized in the 2023 as one of the ‘Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion’ for the second consecutive year. The DEI is the nation’s most comprehensive annual disability inclusion benchmarking tool, facilitated by leading non-profits Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). It serves as a roadmap of measurable, tangible actions companies can take to achieve disability inclusion and equality. Companies included in the 2023 DEI thoroughly demonstrate how they advance disability inclusion across their business.
In 2023, 485 corporations utilized the DEI to benchmark their disability inclusion efforts. L3Harris’ selection as a top-scoring DEI company reflects high performance across the index’s five pillars: company culture and leadership, enterprise-wide access, employment practices, community engagement and supplier diversity.
The disability community is large and diverse, yet workplace disability representation does not often reflect this. L3Harris is focused on creating a more inclusive environment for people with disabilities and as of 2022, 9% of L3Harris employees self-identify as having a disability, a one percentage point increase from 2021.
Diversity, equity and inclusion play a fundamental role in driving innovation, collaboration and growth within the organization. This recognition underscores the company’s ongoing efforts to champion diversity, cultivate an inclusive culture and provide equal opportunities for all employees. Our Willing & Able (WILA) Employee Resource Group (ERG) is an integral part in better understanding how we can improve the overall employee experience.
“WILA has helped me see that while my personal disability experience is unique, I am not alone. I am among the many who have an “invisible” disability. WILA has helped me build a community within my workplace for those of us who have unique requirements in order to be safe and healthy, and allows me to advocate for myself and others,” said Becca Linch, Senior Manager, Production & Sustaining Quality, CS.
L3Harris continues to take the following actions both at work and in the community to support disability equality and inclusion:
- Focus on DE&I through its CEO-led Diversity Council, which includes disability-focused employee resource group, WILA.
- Celebrate Disability Awareness Month in October by spotlighting employees’ achievements in articles, on social media and during ERG-hosted events.
- Increase the amount of virtual and in-person counseling sessions available to employees.
- Ensure our company website content is accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning and neurological disabilities.
L3Harris aims to attract, engage and retain a high performing, diverse workforce—and believes a culture of inclusion drives our employees to achieve their full potential. We empower our people—no matter their race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or veteran status—to be innovators that solve our customers’ toughest problems.
