  • Lead architect for flight avionics suite, hardware specifications and interface control documents
  • Flight-proven systems ready to take first woman to the Moon by 2024
  • Further strengthens company position as key, critical supplier for manned missions

L3Harris Technologies (NYSE:LHX) has been selected by Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, as a key member of their Human Landing System for Artemis, NASA’s program to land the first woman and next man on the Moon by 2024.

L3Harris will lead the development of specifications and interfaces for flight avionics hardware and serve as the lead avionics architect for the Autonomous Logistics Platform for All-Moon Cargo Access (ALPACA). In Dynetics’ approach to its Human Landing System that segments crew and cargo, the ALPACA uses artificial intelligence to manage cargo and support crew systems to free the crew to focus on lunar exploration and activities requiring human control.

“L3Harris’ flawless performance on previous manned missions makes us an ideal partner for the mission to return to the Moon,” said Sean Stackley, President, L3Harris’ Integrated Mission Systems. “Human space flight is critical to the U.S. scientific and industrial communities and will inspire the next generation.”

L3Harris’ space legacy provides unique qualifications for this critical mission to land astronauts on the Moon’s South Pole. The company has been supporting NASA’s programs for more than six decades, beginning with technologies for early spacecraft and has continued through the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Space Shuttle and International Space Station missions.

"Dynetics is excited to lead this expert team of subcontractors that will return Americans to the lunar surface," said Kim Doering, Vice President of Space Systems at Dynetics. "This team has a proven history of technical excellence, and their contributions will greatly benefit the future of space exploration."
