The Finnish Border Guard recently announced L3Harris as invited to bid to replace the service’s with modern airborne surveillance capabilities to secure the country’s borders, support maritime safety and detect environmental damage.
L3Harris has proposed a missionized Dassault Falcon 2000 aircraft, a multi-use platform that offers increased, speed, range, endurance and high operational availability while decreasing overall maintenance costs from the current fleet of Dornier 228 aircraft.
“We’ve delivered airborne ISR solutions to address our customers’ specific mission requirements for more than 70 years, and this particular solution is based on a proven system that is already fielded with other customers,” said Tara Martin, Senior Director of Business Development, ISR Sector, L3Harris. “Our team is excited to help the Finnish Border Guard expand its operational capabilities by delivering a modern, customized system to achieve its missions.”
Company representatives participated in initial program discussions and introduced their offering this week in Helsinki, Finland with the Finnish Border Guard and media in attendance.
L3Harris has missionized aircraft from more than 10 original equipment manufacturers, consisting of over 125 aircraft types with more than 15,000 deliveries, and has more than 50 multi-mission business jet aircraft on contract or delivered.
Customers include coast guards and militaries across the U.S., U.K., Australia, as well as European and Asian partner nations.
