Product Specifications
L3Harris' quick reaction capability (QRC) methodologies and rapid prototyping capability are essential to the success of our design-build antenna development model. This capability can be broken down into 3 areas:
- Simulation
- Fabrication
- Test and Characterization
L3Harris’ Rockwall Texas site uses CST Microwave Studio™ for 3D electromagnetic simulations that runs on a Microway high performance computing cluster containing 80 Xeon E5 cores, 12 Tesla P100 GPU accelerators, and more than 2.5 TB of RAM. This allows us to rapidly optimize our antenna designs for installed performance on customer defined platforms. For static and dynamic loads analysis, we use Nastran / Patran and SOLIDWORKS for 3D solid modeling and thermal analysis. Our fabrication capability consists of a full machine shop including a 4-axis CNC mill, 3-axis CNC lathe as well as a 3D plastic printer and LPKF laser ablation machine for circuit board prototyping. In addition, this site has a composite oven for building multi-layer antennas and five antenna ranges including a Satimo SG-64, NSI 8’x8’ planar scanner, and indoor 80’ far-field range. In terms of environmental test and screening we have a temperature and humidity chamber, vibration table, MTS load frame, and EMC shield room.
