FA2200 & FA2300 Modular Airborne Data Recording / Acquisition System (MADRAS)

Product overview

Knowing that not all aircraft operate with the same guidelines, monitoring requirements and data-tracking needs, L3Harris developed the flexible Modular Airborne Data Recorder/Acquisition System (MADRAS) to support this targeted need. The MADRAS is a highly reliable, single Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) that is custom-configured for data acquisition as a recording solution for helicopters, business aircraft, unique-mission and military aircraft.

  • Offers data acquisition and data input/output tailored to each aircraft
  • Proven field experience MTBF >20,000 hours (dependent upon operational environment)
  • Control units, microphones, accelerometers and installation accessories are available
  • Common ground support equipment with the FA2100 CVR and FDR

Key Features

Designed for focused audiences

The L3Harris FA2200/2300 models have been successful in meeting the data acquisition needs because they have the ability to record a minimum of 25 hours of flight data at 256/512 words per second (wps). The FA2300 also has the capability to record four channels of high-quality audio for up to two hours. This modular design, custom-configured recording solutions and common support equipment have proven their success in multiple aircraft and helicopter types.

Additionally, control units, microphones, accelerometers and installation accessories are also available for aircraft in need of tailored recording solutions.

The MADRAS family provides operators with the ability to quickly download and analyze flight data for safety and preventative maintenance investigations. The units share the same common ground support equipment as the FA2100 Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and Flight Data Recorder (FDR) using the ARINC 747 flight data output for connection to a Quick Access Recorder (QAR). This data helps accident investigators as well as provides numerous parameters of data for Flight Data Monitoring (FDM)/Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) supporting airlines Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
